Now that I’m all read up on hydroponics, I did some shopping. You know that look people give you when you go to a buffet and come back to the table with more than you can possibly eat, trying to modestly arrange your plates and bowls in front of you? Yeah, I’m that guy.

You almost certainly realize by now that you won’t see much indoor gardening success without the right amount of light. Reproducing the sun’s effects inside your cozy abode is, after all, a difficult prospect. HID lamps do a great job of providing light at the right strength and color spectrum, but how can you be sure that you’re delivering it to your plants evenly? Plants as little as four feet away from an HID lamp are only getting light at six percent of its original intensity, and thick, lush plant canopies don’t do many favors to anything growing below them.
