CO₂ is vital to plant growth and development. Your light system is the most important investment when gardening indoors, but a common mistake is to underestimate the importance of a good CO₂ system. With the addition of CO₂, you can increase growth and yield by up to 25-60%. An automated CO₂ enrichment system can quickly pay for itself with shorter crop cycles, improved quality and higher yields. If you're just starting out with CO₂, start at 700-900 ppm, which is double the level normally found in the atmosphere (300-450 ppm). Once your yields increase, bump CO₂ up to the optimal level of 1200-1500 ppm.
